Shepherds Junior Academy.
Mama Lucy founded Shepherds Junior on September 6, 2003 with only 10 students and 2 teachers. The school is located in the Kimandolu region of Arusha, Tanzania. Most of the residents in this area are living below 2 dollars per day!
Mission: Offer a high quality education at an affordable cost.
Objectives:
- Provide free education for orphans and needy children
- Support and implement millennium development goals - poverty eradication.
- Maintain the health of students.
- Practice gender equality.
- Conserve the environment.
Future Plans:
- Increase classroom size and number to allow for more students.
- Use solar energy and bio-gas to minimize expenses.
- Acquire computers to prepare students for higher education.
Currently, Shepherds Junior has over 170 students and 14 teachers. They are currently building at a new location thanks to the efforts of www.EpicChange.com.
